HOW WE HELPED
Through a custom program programme, we educated the team on best practices to adhere to their company’s template as well as the key principles of data storytelling as they deal heavily with charts and data. This was supported by a general curriculum on visual literacy. Learners got to even practice it on software to showcase to their peers and take home fully-designed slides.

“HighSpark has given our team a unique perspective in developing presentations that in my 7 years working here, I have not seen before. My colleagues and I were left deeply inspired by the insights from the trainer. CHALLENGES
Startupbootcamp runs the Accelerator Programme, focusing on FinTech startups. At the end of the program, startups get to participate in demo day, where each group has 5 minutes to pitch their business to potential investors and venture capitalists. Though many of these startups had wonderful ideas, they were unable to communicate them effectively. Startupbootcamp engaged HighSpark to provide a 4-hour crash course, as well as personal consultations for each startup to help them achieve maximum results. HighSpark was also tasked to help the startups identify their unique positioning to differentiate themselves and appeal to their target audience.

Action:
We conducted a crash course to guide the startups through frameworks such as visual communications and story structures. We also provided them with case studies, and obtained feedback from the others for their pitches. During the consultations, we also saw their latest presentation drafts, and helped the groups identify areas of improvement in terms of story flow, messaging and visual design.
Results:
The groups put to use what they had learnt during the crash course, and came up with visually impactful presentations that helped them engage their target audience.

I can confidently say we’re ready for Demo-Day and beyond.”

CHALLENGES
Symrise had invested heavily into developing their products, and hence wanted to increase their chances of clinching sales. However, there was a lack of structure in their presentations, leading to numerous lost opportunities. Some clients had existing needs, which Symrise was looking to fill with their products. They also had specific products which they wanted to convince clients were in their best interests to get.
Symrise requested for Highspark to conduct a workshop for the marketing team, with emphasis on pitching, proposing ideas and concepts, and selling products to customers who either have or lack a need for it.

Stories That Stick
Action:
We decided to create a workshop that was tailored specifically to Symrise’s needs, and bring value to the discussions by showing them how to bring their key messages across to their audiences to increase the level of engagement. We created a framework and structure to guide the team in communicating their key points efficiently. We also focused on shifting the team’s perspective from selling to a customer, to getting customers to want the product, and compelling them to say ‘yes’.
Results:
The participants left the workshop with knowledge on how to craft powerful stories that bring their messages across, and convince their audience effectively. 72.7% (8/11) strongly agreed that the workshop was interesting and engaging.

What I appreciated the most probably from HighSpark was their high level of customization, the care and time they took for preparing the workshop and really making it fit for our company. Thank you.
