Helping doctors communicate complex medical information clearly
Abbott brings life-changing health technologies to people around the world. Through its innovations in healthcare, the company aims to improve lives and support better patient outcomes.
For healthcare professionals, communication plays a crucial role in patient care. Doctors must often explain complex medical conditions and treatments in ways that patients can easily understand.
This workshop was designed to help doctors strengthen how they communicate complex medical information clearly, logically, and empathetically.
Using Simple Terms to Support Patient Care
Communication skills are at the heart of any engagement, especially one between a doctor and patient. As healthcare professionals, doctors are often in situations where they need to convey complex issues in a compelling and empathetic way.
Amidst their busy schedules, the doctors grappled with simplifying difficult medical terms and delivering that information in a logical and concise manner that would be understood by the layman.

Empowering Professionals to Create Clear Communications
Our Hackathon program was tailored for doctors and physicians to successfully deliver technical information in a clear and engaging manner, with the use of professional-looking collaterals that contained more than just text.
With 1 trainer and 4 coaches, the 4-hour programme included group coaching, presentations and a final feedback session by experts in the field. Participants also practised projecting their voices and speaking confidently in front of a crowd.

Creating seamless medical communication with clear messaging
By the end of the hackathon, participants gained practical techniques to communicate medical information in a clearer and more engaging way.
Through guided practice and coaching, doctors learned how to structure their ideas, support their message with visuals, and deliver their message with greater confidence.
These skills help doctors communicate more effectively with patients, colleagues, and professional audiences.
