MICROSOFT COPILOT COURSE

Microsoft Copilot Training for Teams

Copilot training for companies rolling out Microsoft 365 Copilot: hands-on use in the apps your team already works in, so licences turn into time saved.

Trusted by teams in best-in-class organisations

Buying Copilot licences is easy. Getting people to use them well is harder.

Facing issues such as:

  • Licences bought, with only a few people using Copilot day to day
  • Staff unsure what Copilot can see in the company's files, emails and chats
  • Meeting summaries and draft replies sent without a check
  • Excel answers that look right but have not been verified
  • No shared prompts, so each person starts from scratch

Use Copilot inside the work you already do.

  • Use Copilot where you work

Practise in Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint on tasks from your own week, not demo files.

  • Know what Copilot can see

Understand in plain terms how your permissions shape its answers, and how to point it at the right files.

  • Share what works

Build a team prompt library and agree habits for checking output before it goes out.

Who is this course for?

For organisations putting Microsoft 365 Copilot to work

Teams with Copilot Licences

Organisations that have bought Microsoft 365 Copilot, or are piloting it, and want people to use it on real work.

IT and L&D Leads Planning Adoption

People who need a hands-on session that supports a wider rollout, alongside your own communications and support.

Staff Who Live in Microsoft 365

Employees whose day is mostly Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel, and who want to spend less of it on routine drafting and catch-up.

Course Overview

Copilot in the five Microsoft 365 apps your team uses

Workshop Agenda

  • Use Copilot in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams on your own work
  • Ground answers in the right files and know what Copilot can see
  • Summarise meetings and email threads, and draft replies you check before sending
  • Analyse and explain data in Excel, and verify the numbers
  • Build a prompt library your team can share
  • Follow safe-use habits for data, permissions and review

Each module takes one app: a short demo, a hands-on task on your own laptop, then a debrief. You try the task your way, see where Copilot misses, then learn the prompt or the file reference that fixes it.

Practice files are fictional or non-confidential and sit in your own tenant. Before the course we ask which tasks your teams handle, so the exercises match their work. Microsoft updates Copilot often, so we teach what your licences include at the time of training.

Microsoft Copilot Training curriculum (half day, 6 modules)

Six modules over about four hours, with one 15-minute break; timings are approximate. A full day or 2 days adds practice in each app on your own files.

Module 1: What Copilot Is in Microsoft 365 and What It Can See (30 min)

Talk and Discussion

  • Where Copilot sits across Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • What it can see, explained in plain terms: your permissions shape its answers
  • Share where you use Copilot now and name the real task you will work on
Module 2: Outlook and Teams (40 min)

Talk and Demo

  • Summarise a long thread and catch up on what you missed
  • Draft replies in the right tone, and meeting recaps with actions

Hands-on

  • Summarise a practice thread, draft a reply, then edit and check it before sending
Module 3: Word (35 min)

Talk and Demo

  • Draft, rewrite and summarise from your own files
  • Point Copilot at the right documents so it uses them

Hands-on

  • Turn rough notes into a structured first draft, then tighten it with follow-up prompts
Module 4: Excel (40 min)

Talk and Demo

  • Ask Copilot to analyse and explain data in a workbook
  • Sanity-check first: totals, duplicates and odd values

Hands-on

  • Analyse a practice workbook with planted errors, then compare what you caught with the answer key
Module 5: PowerPoint, From Document to First Draft Deck (45 min)

Talk and Demo

  • Turn a Word document into a first-draft deck
  • Make the draft persuasive: structure, message and visuals. The full method is in AI for presentations

Hands-on

  • Build a first draft from your own document and revise it with prompts
Module 6: Team Prompt Library, Adoption Habits and Safe Use (35 min)

Talk and Demo

  • What a shared prompt library looks like and how teams keep it alive
  • Safe use: what not to paste, how permissions apply and how to verify output

Hands-on

  • Add your three best prompts to a shared library
  • Commit to the next task you will use Copilot for

Worked example

One meeting, five apps

A fictional project meeting, followed through Microsoft 365. It shows the habits the course builds: start from the right files, check before sending, and know what Copilot can see.

  1. Teams: recap the meeting

Copilot summarises the meeting and lists the actions. You check the actions against what was agreed before anyone relies on them.

  2. Outlook: draft the follow-up

Copilot drafts the follow-up email from the recap in the right tone. You edit it and check names, dates and owners before sending.

  3. Word: turn notes into a brief

Point Copilot at the recap and your notes to produce a structured first draft of the project brief, then tighten it with follow-up prompts.

  4. Excel: check the numbers

Ask Copilot to analyse the project budget workbook, then sanity-check totals, duplicates and odd values before quoting a figure.

  5. PowerPoint: draft the update deck

Turn the Word brief into a first-draft deck and revise it with prompts, ready for your own judgement on structure and message.

What Copilot can see: it works with the files, emails and chats you already have permission to open, so your permissions shape every answer. Pointing it at the right files matters as much as the prompt.
