Public Speaking Courses in Singapore, Compared

Ten public speaking courses in Singapore compared on format, hours, published fee and funding, with a plain note wherever a provider does not publish a fact.

10 providers · 6 criteria · no scores
Trainer speaking to a seated audience during a public speaking course in Singapore

01 · Introduction

The best public speaking course in Singapore depends on how you want to practise and who is paying. For a nervous beginner who wants weekly practice in a small class, Public Speaking Academy’s nine-lesson programme (S$688) fits. For the lowest fee after government funding, NTUC LearningHub’s one-day WSQ course costs S$156 to S$236 including GST for eligible Singaporeans and PRs. For senior leaders, SMU Academy’s Clearly Speak is taught by a former Auditor-General. For a team that presents to clients and management, an in-house course such as HighSpark’s fits better than a public class.

This guide is for professionals choosing a course for themselves and for HR and L&D teams booking for a group. It compares ten providers on course, format, duration, published fee, stated funding and trade-offs. Every fact was checked on the provider’s own page on 20 Oct 2026, and the sources are listed at the foot of the page.

Disclosure

HighSpark, the company publishing this guide, is one of the ten providers. No provider paid to appear. A provider was included if its own website lists a public speaking, or speaking and presenting, course for adults in Singapore. Providers are listed alphabetically, with HighSpark last and labelled as the publisher. British Council Singapore, which appears in searches for this topic, is not profiled because its course page could not be opened on 20 Oct 2026. Where a fact was not published, the guide says so instead of guessing.

03 · Key takeaways

Key takeaways

  • There is no single best course. Weekly classes (Public Speaking Academy) suit beginners, one-day funded courses (NTUC LearningHub, SMU Academy, ASK Training) suit busy professionals, and in-house courses (HighSpark, Speech Academy Asia) suit teams.
  • Published fees run from S$436 including GST for a one-day course before funding (NTUC LearningHub) to S$2,534.25 for two days (Dale Carnegie). Speech Academy Asia and ThinkStorySpeak publish no fee.
  • Funding attaches to a course code and to you. NTUC LearningHub, Hustle, SMU Academy, Speak Sell Succeed and HighSpark’s public workshop state a SkillsFuture course code or subsidy on their own pages. ASK Training and Dale Carnegie state UTAP only.
  • Practice time per person is the best predictor of progress, and it varies widely. SMU Academy’s page says there is no individual practice for every participant, while Dale Carnegie lists up to seven filmed talks each.
  • To choose, decide on cadence (weekly or intensive), who pays, and whether you need business presentation skills or general confidence. Then ask for the class size, the trainer’s name and the fee after funding in writing.

04 · Definition

What a public speaking course covers (and what it does not)

A public speaking course teaches you to speak to a group with control: managing nerves, using your voice and body, structuring what you say, and handling questions. Most courses in Singapore are built around practice. You speak, get feedback from a trainer and your classmates, and speak again, often on camera.

Courses differ in three ways that matter to a buyer. Cadence: weekly classes spread practice over several weeks, while one- and two-day workshops compress it. Audience: some courses serve anyone who wants to speak with confidence, others are built for business presentations to clients and management, and one (NTUC LearningHub’s) also covers hosting. Funding: only courses with an approved SkillsFuture course code attract the course fee subsidy, and SkillsFuture Credit and UTAP apply only where the provider states they do.

A public speaking course is not the same as presentation skills training, which adds the storyline and the slides, or one-to-one coaching for a single high-stakes talk. If the real problem is what goes on the slides, our comparison of presentation training providers in Singapore covers that market.

05 · How we evaluated

Six questions we asked of every course.

We asked the same six questions of each course, because these are what decide whether you leave able to speak better, not just having attended.

Facts for each course were checked against the provider’s own course page on 20 Oct 2026. Course codes are shown as each provider states them; the SkillsFuture directory could not be opened automatically that day. “Not published” means we did not find the fact, not that it does not exist. Source links are at the foot of the page.

  1. 01

    Practice per person

How often does each learner stand up, speak and get feedback? Class size and filmed practice matter more than slides.

  2. 02

    Trainer named

Is the person teaching named, and is their experience stated, or is it “one of our trainers”?

  3. 03

    Format and cadence

Weekly classes, one or two intensive days, in person or online, public class or in-house.

  4. 04

    Published fee

Is a fee published, and does it say whether GST is included and whether it is before or after funding?

  5. 05

    Funding stated

A SkillsFuture course code or subsidy, SkillsFuture Credit, UTAP, or none, as the provider states it.

  6. 06

    Audience fit

Beginners, executives, hosts and emcees, or teams presenting at work. The same course rarely suits all four.

No course wins on all six. A funded one-day class and a nine-week programme solve different problems, so the table below helps you match your situation to a course rather than naming one winner.

06 · Comparison table

Participants give up to seven filmed presentations to a live audience, with one-to-one coaching, according to the course page. It is the most expensive published option in this guide, and it is UTAP-approved rather than SkillsFuture-funded on its page.

Lowest funded fee

NTUC LearningHub

NTUC LearningHub’s WSQ Hosting and Speaking with Confidence is an eight-hour course for people who want to speak and present with more confidence, and it also covers hosting, so its audience includes educators and event organisers. It is assessed by a written assessment and case study, and leads to a WSQ Statement of Attainment. Its fee table shows the lowest published fee after funding in this guide.

Weekly classes, champion-designed

Public Speaking Academy

Public Speaking Academy was founded in 2009, and its founder Darren Tay won the 2016 Toastmasters World Championship of Public Speaking. Its adult course, the World Champion Certification Programme, runs as nine weekly two-hour lessons in classes of up to 12, so practice is spread over about two months. The page publishes one all-in fee and states no registration fee, material fee or GST.

Trade-off
No funding is stated, so the S$688 is paid in full, and the trainer for a given class is not named in advance.

For senior leaders

SMU Academy

SMU Academy, the continuing education arm of Singapore Management University, does not list a course called public speaking; its closest is Clearly Speak, a one-day course on effective speaking for corporate leaders, professionals and executives. It is taught by Prof Lim Soo Ping, former Auditor-General of Singapore. The page is candid that there is no individual practice and coaching for every participant; speaking exercises are voluntary.

Duration
1 full day (weekday)
Published price

Funding stated

Trainer
Prof Lim Soo Ping, former Auditor-General of Singapore
Best suited for
Directors and executives who want a funded university course from a senior public-service speaker.
Trade-off

Lowest published net cost

Speak Sell Succeed

Speak Sell Succeed runs one public speaking course, Presentation Skills & Public Speaking, taught in person by its founder Iwan Yang at Tanjong Pagar. The same 16 hours run as a two-day workshop or as weekly evening or Saturday sessions. Its page states SkillsFuture Credit and UTAP eligibility and publishes the lowest net cost we found.

Trainer
Iwan Yang, founder; site lists Toastmasters wins, ICF Certified Coach and WSQ Certified Trainer
Best suited for
Individuals paying their own way who can use SkillsFuture Credit and UTAP. People who want an evening or Saturday option.
Trade-off
Every class depends on one trainer and runs only in person, so remote learners and larger cohorts need another option.

Coached high-stakes delivery

ThinkStorySpeak

ThinkStorySpeak runs a Public Speaking & Presentation Skills programme that pairs hands-on training with personalised coaching, which its page compares to an actor working with a director. It covers physical delivery, voice, structure, slide design and personal image, and names founders pitching to angel investors among its audience. Paul Falzon is listed on its homepage as Lead Trainer.

Teams presenting at work

HighSpark is a Singapore presentation and communication training company founded in 2013, and the publisher of this guide. Its public speaking course runs in-house for one team of 8 to 20, over one or two days, in person or on Zoom or Microsoft Teams. It covers nerves, body language, voice, storytelling and structure, and every participant speaks, gets coached feedback and speaks again. Named facilitators include Christine Soliven and Rahul Shah.

Individuals cannot join the in-house course. HighSpark points them to its public Business Presentation Delivery workshop, a nine-hour virtual course (an eight-hour workshop plus a one-hour assessment) with course code TGS-2026061293 and up to 70% subsidy, as its page states. That workshop covers structure, delivery and handling questions for business presentations rather than general confidence.

Trainer
Facilitators named on the course page include Christine Soliven and Rahul Shah
Best suited for
Teams who present to boards, clients and stakeholders and want to practise on their real talks. Individuals who need business presentation skills, through the public workshop.
Trade-off
The public speaking course runs only in-house for teams, and only the public workshop is SkillsFuture-funded, so an individual who wants general confidence practice may be better served by a weekly class elsewhere.

09 · How to choose

A six-point checklist before you book.

Run each shortlisted course through these six questions. If a provider cannot answer one in writing, treat that as information.

1. How many times will I speak, and get feedback, during the course?

Ask for the class size and the number of practice rounds per person. A class of 12 over nine weeks and a one-day class of 20 give very different practice time.

2. Who exactly will teach my class?

Ask for the trainer’s name and speaking or training background. Several providers name a founder on the website but assign classes to other trainers.

3. Do I need weekly practice or one intensive block?

Weekly classes build habits and suit nervous beginners. One or two days suit people with a deadline or a full diary.

4. What is my fee after funding, including GST?

Ask for the course code and the net fee for your age, citizenship and sponsor. Published figures mix before and after GST and before and after subsidy.

5. Is this about confidence, or about presenting at work?

General confidence courses suit anyone. If you present proposals, results or pitches, look for a course that also covers structure and handling questions.

For more on the skills themselves, see our guides to managing stage fright before a presentation and handling hard questions, both linked at the end of this page.

10 · Funding explained

How public speaking courses are funded in Singapore.

Four funding routes appear on the course pages in this guide. They attach to a specific course and to you, not to a provider.

Up to 70%

SkillsFuture course fee subsidy

Paid on courses with an approved SkillsFuture course code. The rate depends on your age, citizenship and sponsor; SMU Academy and Hustle publish 70% tiers and higher SME or mid-career top-ups.

S$500

SkillsFuture Credit

Singapore Citizens receive an opening credit of S$500 at 25 and can use it on eligible courses, usually against the fee left after subsidy.

S$250

UTAP for NTUC members

Reimburses 50% of the unfunded fee, capped at S$250 a year, or S$500 from age 40, as Speak Sell Succeed’s page states. ASK Training and Dale Carnegie list UTAP only.

Not always

Mid-Career credit

The S$4,000 SkillsFuture Credit (Mid-Career) for Singaporeans aged 40 and above may not apply to every course. Speak Sell Succeed’s page states it cannot be used for its course, so ask before you count on it.

Courses with no stated funding (Public Speaking Academy, Speech Academy Asia, ThinkStorySpeak) are paid in full or by your employer. HighSpark’s public Business Presentation Delivery workshop states a course code and up to 70% subsidy; its in-house public speaking course has no Singapore funding at the moment.

12 · FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the best public speaking course in Singapore?

It depends on your situation. For nervous beginners, Public Speaking Academy’s nine weekly lessons (S$688). For the lowest fee after funding, NTUC LearningHub’s one-day WSQ course (S$156 to S$236 including GST for eligible Singaporeans and PRs). For senior leaders, SMU Academy’s Clearly Speak. For teams, an in-house course such as HighSpark’s. The quick picks and table above match more situations.

How much does a public speaking course cost in Singapore?

Published fees on 20 Oct 2026 ranged from S$436 including GST for one day before funding (NTUC LearningHub) to S$2,534.25 for two days (Dale Carnegie). Public Speaking Academy charges S$688 for nine lessons and Speak Sell Succeed S$650 for 16 hours. After funding, published net fees start at S$152.40 (SMU Academy, maximum funding) and S$156 (NTUC LearningHub), and Speak Sell Succeed states S$75 after SkillsFuture Credit and UTAP. Speech Academy Asia and ThinkStorySpeak quote on enquiry.

Can I use SkillsFuture Credit for a public speaking course?

Yes, if the course is listed as SkillsFuture Credit eligible and you are a Singapore Citizen aged 25 or above. NTUC LearningHub, Hustle Academy, SMU Academy and Speak Sell Succeed state that SkillsFuture Credit applies. It is usually used against the fee left after any subsidy.

Can NTUC members claim UTAP for a public speaking course?

Several courses state UTAP eligibility: NTUC LearningHub, Speak Sell Succeed, Hustle Academy, ASK Training and Dale Carnegie. UTAP covers 50% of the unfunded fee, capped at S$250 a year, or S$500 for members aged 40 and above, per the provider pages.

How long is a public speaking course?

Most public classes run one day (8 hours) or two days (15.5 to 16 hours). Public Speaking Academy runs nine weekly two-hour lessons, and Speak Sell Succeed offers its 16 hours as eight weekday evenings or four Saturdays. Coaching programmes have no fixed length.

Is a public speaking course worth it if I am very nervous?

Yes, if the course gives you repeated practice in a small group. Look for class sizes of 12 or fewer, several rounds of speaking with feedback, and ideally weekly sessions, so that speaking becomes routine rather than a single high-stakes day.

What is the difference between public speaking and presentation skills training?

Public speaking courses focus on delivery and confidence: voice, body language, nerves and structure. Presentation skills training adds the storyline and slides and is judged by whether a decision or sale follows. Several courses here, including ASK Training’s and HighSpark’s, cover both in different proportions.

How was this guide researched, and can providers pay to be included?

Each course was checked on the provider’s own page on 20 Oct 2026, and source links are at the foot of the page. No provider paid to appear. HighSpark publishes this guide and is one of the ten, so its entry follows the same fields, including a trade-off.
